The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate for Akure South Constituency II in Ondo State, Hon. Abitogun Stephen has pledged more inclusive representation, people-oriented programs, youth empowerment, and women-focused policies after receiving his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form to contest the 2027 elections.

Abitogun, who expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa and the leadership of the APC at the state, local government, and ward levels, described his nomination as a demonstration of the party’s confidence in his capacity to continue providing purposeful leadership for the constituency.

This development formally signals Abitogun’s entry into the race for a second term under the platform of the All Progressives Congress. He was first elected in 2023, having won the keenly contested primaries and later had a landslide victory in the general election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media handler in Akure, the APC standard-bearer said his emergence as an unopposed aspirant symbolised a collective aspiration for a new direction in his constituency and assured party members and supporters that no individual or group would be sidelined in the party’s quest for electoral success.

The Akure-born politician and lawyer reiterated his commitment to people-oriented policies that would better the lives of his constituents far and near, saying that the people deserve leadership that prioritises the welfare and development of society, which he has always championed in all his political engagements.

He promised to further pursue policies that would expand educational opportunities for young people, strengthen women’s economic participation, support local enterprises, and create sustainable opportunities capable of improving the livelihoods of residents. According to him: “Effective representation must be people-centred, accessible, and responsive to the needs and aspirations of every community within the constituency.

“My priority is to provide quality representation that gives every constituent a sense of belonging. We will pursue programs that create opportunities for our youths, empower women, support local businesses, and attract meaningful development to our communities,” Abitogun said.

He also pledged an issue-driven campaign rooted in integrity, accountability, and service, while expressing confidence that sustained grassroots mobilisation and unity in the APC would position the party for victory in the State House of Assembly election in 2027.

He urged party faithful and constituents to remain committed to the collective vision of building a more prosperous and inclusive future, stressing that the campaign would focus on consolidating on the achievements made so far and at the same time put practical efforts to the developmental challenges confronting our society.
