...Outlines Vision For A Progressive Akure-Speaking Community  



Yesterday, the Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, joined sons and daughters of Akure at the Akure-Speaking Communities’ Development Summit 2026 with a clear message: the future of Akure is a responsibility shared by all.


He emphasized that while government has a role to play, citizens must also ask themselves what they are doing for their own community. This conviction, he noted, is the driving force behind his support for the Light Up Akure Project. According to him, “we should not only complain about darkness when we can help provide light.”


Speaking directly to young people, the Minister urged them to contribute to Akure beyond politics, support for politicians, and debates on social media. He charged them to do more, stressing that true success should be measured by how individual progress translates to collective progress.


The Honourable Minister envisions a smart, inclusive, and progressive Akure-speaking community — one where no one is left behind, where young people have a voice, women have opportunities, elders are respected, businesses thrive, streets are safe, the environment is clean, and development reaches every part of the communities.


He expressed strong belief that by working together, the people can build a future of greater progress and greater glory for Akure land.

2027 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE SENT TO PRISON  Written by Lola Rakeem on June 22, 2026    2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his detention. The order was given by Justice Mohammed Umar following the revocation of Sowore’s bail and the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest. Sowore appeared in court on Monday carrying a travel bag and was accompanied by supporters who gathered at the court premises with placards.
