Akure Youths Dissociate Themselves from Proposed Protest at St. David's Cathedral; Congratulate The Most Rev. Simeon Oluwole Borokini, Warn Against Any Attempt to Breach Public Peace





The Akure Youths have unequivocally dissociated themselves from the proposed protest reportedly planned to take place today at St. David's Cathedral, Akure, describing the action as unnecessary, ill-timed, and capable of disrupting the existing peace and harmony enjoyed in the ancient city.


The youth body wishes to state categorically that no recognized youth organization in Akure is involved in or supports the proposed protest. The youths believe that issues concerning the Church should be handled through peaceful dialogue, mutual respect, and established ecclesiastical procedures, rather than actions capable of generating tension or undermining the sanctity of the Church.


The Akure Youths used the opportunity to congratulate The Most Rev. Simeon Oluwole Borokini on the successful completion of his tenure, applauding his years of dedicated service, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the growth of the Church, the promotion of peace, and the advancement of humanity.


According to the youth body, The Most Rev. Simeon Oluwole Borokini's episcopal ministry has been characterized by humility, integrity, compassion, and selfless service. His contributions to evangelism, youth development, education, and community-building have left an enduring legacy within the Anglican Communion and the wider society.


The youths expressed appreciation for his fatherly guidance, steadfast leadership, and commitment to fostering unity among the clergy, laity, and the people of Akure Kingdom. They prayed that Almighty God would continue to grant him good health, divine wisdom, strength, and many more fruitful years as he continues to serve God and humanity.


The Akure Youths also called on all members of the Anglican Communion, residents of Akure, and well-wishers to uphold the values of peace, love, and unity throughout the transition period, emphasizing that the Church must remain a symbol of hope, reconciliation, and spiritual guidance.


Furthermore, the youth body warned that any individual or group attempting to use the occasion to foment trouble, incite violence, or breach the peace of Akure and the Church should immediately desist. Such actions are capable of undermining the long-standing reputation of Akure as a peaceful city and will not be tolerated by peace-loving youths.


The youths urged security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure that law and order are maintained, while calling on all residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and avoid being used as instruments of violence or provocation.


The Akure Youths reaffirm their commitment to preserving the peace, unity, and progress of Akure Kingdom and pledge to continue supporting every lawful effort that promotes harmony, respect for religious institutions, and sustainable development.
