In the high-stakes corridors of the National Assembly in Abuja, where tight schedules and layers of protocol usually keep leaders at arm length, Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi stands apart.


As the Federal Commissioner representing the Northwest in the National Assembly Service Commission, Senator Hunkuyi has earned a reputation as a sharp, articulate, and deeply thoughtful leader whose presence commands attention.




Yet behind that formidable intellect beats the warm, generous heart of a true father figure.

That rare combination came alive for me this morning when I walked into his office unannounced. Rather than the usual formal barriers, Senator Hunkuyi immediately rose from his meeting with guests, his face breaking into a genuine, infectious smile. 


Senator Hunkuyi welcomed me—a surprise visitor—with such open joy and sincerity that the entire room seemed to brighten.


It is precisely this approachable, people-first spirit that has made Senator Hunkuyi not only a respected statesman but a man deeply loved by those who know him.


Whether through his public service or the many quiet acts of support he extends behind the scenes, he consistently shows that true leadership goes far beyond titles and policy.


He listens with his whole heart.


In that moment, my unplanned visit turned into a meaningful opportunity to share the vision and goals of THE GREEN AND RED PRESS to my father. 


As we spoke, his attentiveness, warmth, and vibrant energy were unmistakable. You could feel that his commitment isn’t limited to governance; it extends to lifting people up.


In a political landscape where many leaders remain distant and guarded, Senator Hunkuyi has become a refreshing anchor of humanity.


Senator Hunkuyi proves, day after day, that the most powerful form of leadership isn’t found in isolation or ceremony, but in open doors, sincere smiles, and the steady support he offers to the next generation.
