Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN), affectionately known as Omo-Ekun, stands as a beacon of excellence, leadership, and dedicated service. Born on March 27, 1968, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Adegbonmire’s path to success began at an early age. By the time he was 19, he had already earned his law degree from the University of Ife (currently Obafemi Awolowo University) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. He refined his expertise at prestigious firms, including A.O. Openiyi & Company, Jide Aladejana & Company, and Lanre Ogunlesi & Company, before joining Aluko & Oyebode Chambers to specialize in commercial law, corporate finance, arbitration, taxation, and intellectual property.


His pragmatic approach to dispute resolution and in-depth understanding of legal strategy quickly positioned him as a sought-after expert. In 2015, he ascended to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), affirming his outstanding contributions to advocacy and legal scholarship.


Political Prowess and Legislative Accomplishments


Adegbonmire stepped into politics with a clear and resolute mission: to serve and uplift his community. After a vigorous campaign for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State in 2016, he proudly represented the Ondo Central Senatorial District in the 2023 elections. Today, he excels as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters, while playing an active role in several other key committees.

In just one year in office, Senator Adegbonmire has driven a multitude of projects and policies that significantly enhance the quality of life for his constituents:


Infrastructure Development: He took charge in influencing the dualization of the Akure-Ondo-Ore Highway in the 2024 National Budget, ensuring vital improvements in road connectivity.


Education Advancement: He made a substantial contribution by donating a multi-million-naira digital library to the NBA Akure Branch and overseeing the construction and renovation of schools, including St. Helens Unity Secondary School and Fagbo Community Comprehensive High School.


Youth Empowerment: He sponsored the procurement of UTME/JAMB forms for over 800 students over two years, coupled with scholarships for top-performing candidates across the six local government areas (LGAs).


Economic Empowerment: He delivered over 2,000 bags of fertilizers to farmers, provided 600 bags of Federal Government palliative rice, and created job placements for unemployed youths in federal civil services and security agencies.


Community Development: He successfully installed solar-powered boreholes and streetlights throughout the Ondo Central Senatorial District and donated transformers to various communities, resulting in a significant boost to electricity supply.


Health and Welfare: He has been a tireless advocate for establishing the Federal University Akure Teaching Hospital and has pushed for improved healthcare policies that directly benefit his constituents.


Legislative Contributions: He has taken the lead in sponsoring vital bills aimed at creating Federal Universities and Technical Colleges, enhancing educational opportunities, and driving economic progress in Ondo State.
