The management, staff of UnimedTHC and patients appreciate Aiyedatwa’s giant strides in the health sector as the hospital started its specialist clinics yesterday in magnificent new buildings, marking a year of Dr Michael Gbala as the CMD, say Aiyedatiwa has renewed the hope of the people in Ondo health sector.
A new dawn has broken in the Ondo State health sector, and its light shines brightest at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex (UNIMEDTHC), Laje Ondo, where joy now reverberates through the corridors of newly unveiled specialist clinic buildings. The resounding applause from management, staff, patients, and the larger community reflects a collective appreciation of the transformational leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the visionary efforts of Dr. Michael Gbala, who recently marked one year as Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the teaching hospital.
We will also appreciate and acknowledge the office of the Special Adviser on Health , Professor Michael Simidele Odimayo, who supervises the Teaching Hospital for his excellent job. Professor has done so well in his supervisory role over the hospital. His efforts are greatly acknowledged Dr, Gbala reiterated.
The launch of specialist clinics in these state-of-the-art facilities is not merely a structural development — it is a leap forward in accessible, qualitative healthcare for the people of Ondo State and beyond. From cardiology to endocrinology, orthopedics to pediatrics, the new specialist clinics are already reshaping healthcare delivery, shortening referral times, reducing the burden on federal institutions, and providing world-class medical expertise within reach for citizens who otherwise would have traveled far distances.
The ripple effect of this functioning specialist clinic is monumental. It translates to a healthier population, job creation for medical professionals, increased training opportunities for students of the University of Medical Sciences, and an overall boost to the state’s healthcare metrics. Families are already testifying to shorter wait times, improved diagnoses, and compassionate care — all within the embrace of Ondo State’s own medical infrastructure.
It is evident that the APC-led administration under Governor Aiyedatiwa is not paying lip service to the “OUR EASE” agenda. Instead, it is demonstrating a strong commitment to turning policies into practical, people-centered outcomes. The health sector reform underway is bold, intentional, and inclusive. Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration has shown that where there is political will, progress is not just possible — it is inevitable.
This is a call to all Ondo State citizens: Believe again. Hope again. The government is listening, acting, and delivering. The smiles on the faces of patients at UNIMEDTHC are not staged; they are the genuine products of responsive governance. With each completed project, the Aiyedatiwa-led administration renews the social contract with the people — proving that good governance is not only achievable but also sustainable.
The media stands not only as a witness but as an advocate, amplifying the giant strides of the present administration. Let this milestone at UNIMEDTHC serve as a testament to what is possible when leadership is inspired by service and guided by vision. More reforms are underway. More lives will be touched. And the story of Ondo State’s health sector will continue to be rewritten — in excellence, in equity, and in hope
