ADEJUYIGBE'S EFFORTS YIELD SUCCESS AS DREDGING OF WATERWAYS BEGINS IN AKURE WEST LCDA, COMMENDS GOVERNOR FOR PEOPLE-ORIENTED PROJECTS

In a strategic move to abate unnecessary flooding each time there is a downpour and to ensure residents of Isinkan go about their daily activities without fear, the Ondo State government has begun the clearing of waterways of the popular Yeye River in Akure West Local Council Development Authority. The much-awaited exercise kicked off yesterday amid jubilation from enthusiastic residents and is expected to end in a couple of days before relocating to other flood-prone areas.
The dredging was made possible following a request made to the Governor a few weeks ago through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Engagement (Central) by Akure West LCDA chairman, Hon. Sunday Adejuyigbe, after an on-the-spot assessment visit to the community. The communities badly affected by incessant flooding within his LCDA include Ajipowo (Onibode Aseyori), Honeymoon, Agunloye, Danjuma, Talk of the Town, Olorunsogo, Obe, Odiolowo and Isinkan market.
Adejuyigbe reiterated his commitment to grassroots development, saying he was full of joy achieving this feat at this critical moment when some people had already concluded that nothing good would come from the visit. Today's exercise has not only proved the critics wrong, but it has also rekindled the hope of people in the Aiyedatiwa-led administration.
The exercise, initiated at the directive of the governor, aims at bringing succor to people living in flood-prone areas and ensuring residents sleep with their two eyes closed anytime there is a downpour. The dredging exercise covers all areas where floods have wreaked havoc in the past within Akure and its environs.
While condemning the way and manner people indiscriminately dump waste in the waterways, thereby causing blockages and obstructing the free flow of water, the chairman warned that anybody found engaging in this dastardly act would face the full wrath of the law. Adejuyigbe urged residents to be law-abiding and report any acts capable of frustrating the government’s intervention and efforts.
Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Engagement(Central), Hon. Femi Fadairo, was praised for what the chairman described as a smart and proactive move, ensuring our request promptly received the attention of the Governor, noting that today's development has put an end to all doubts and is also a clear reflection of the responsive and effective leadership displayed by Fadairo.
Finally, Adejuyigbe commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for keeping his word and ensuring that the clearing exercise was being done at this time before the start of heavy downpour. Those living in this area and passers-by know the real importance of this exercise. He encouraged residents not to relent in their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa and his government, saying the best is yet to come.
