Assembly Speaker, 21 Lawmakers Formally Dump PDP for APC

 Political Impact News

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, alongside 21 lawmakers, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday.

During the plenary session, Guwor announced that he had received 21 letters from members indicating their intention to leave the PDP. He also submitted his own letter of defection at the same time.

Guwor stated, “The decision was reached unanimously,” pointing to ongoing divisions within the Party’s South South Zonal Executive and the escalating crisis at the party’s national level.

“With this development, the Delta State House of Assembly is now fully an APC House,” the speaker declared.

This mass defection marks a significant turning point in Delta State politics, altering the legislative power dynamics and further diminishing the PDP’s longstanding influence.

It follows earlier defections by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
