Dele Aleke Champions Strategic Alliance with Murdoch University to Boost Mining Innovation and Skills Development

In a landmark demonstration of his avowed commitment to further deepen collaboration, synergy and effective strategic alliance with organizations, individuals and international bodies in and outside the country, the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Dr. Henry Dele Aleke led a high powered delegation of renown Nigerians to the Murdoch University. 


The two weeks’ program, which aims among other things to further strengthen Nigerians bilateral interest in the Solid Minerals sector, is also expected to solidify, and develop formidable capacity in Nigerian Solid Minerals industry,


Alton Walley while receiving the delegation with fanfare and a traditional Smoking ceremony, informed them that the occasion marks the beginning of an impressive knowledge-based cultural renaissance and the fostering of a stronger tie between the two countries. 


It is expected that, the delegations will be involved in series of lectures on topical issues relevant to the Solid Minerals Sector, including, extractive metallurgy in Western Australia, sustainable geochemistry, and research in mineral science, while targeted field visits to industry experts, and strategic panel discussions on the problems facing the two nations especially in the areas of solid minerals production, with the aim of proffering workable sectorial solutions will also be held.


Addressing the august visitors, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Andrew Deeks underscored the imperatives of the Ministerial visit, re-echoing the immense positive impact of shared international values, and the mutual positive implications of expanding knowledge, and resources among nations of the world.  


According to him, “the support of the Commonwealth Government speaks to the importance of our two nations coming together to share knowledge for the mutual benefit of our societies.”


He further stated that the visit re-echoes, Murdoch University’s broader commitment to ethical, sustainable, and inclusive community engagement efforts aimed at building trust, expanding franchise and creating meaningful impact through education and research.


It must be noted that over time, Murdoch University has consistently maintained a strong connection with several African countries, expanding the frontiers of collaboration and strategic alliance, and exploring several practical strategies such as the African Australian Research Forum and the Murdoch Third Commission: Inclusive Transition. These initiatives continue to foster strategic ties across government, industry, and community sectors, with the goal of nurturing lasting partnerships that support mutual growth and innovations.


The visit, which runs until June 15, is supported by the Commonwealth Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria. It is the first of two delegations expected before 2026, and focuses on sharing mining expertise and fostering sustainable partnerships.
