AL-MAKURA HOSTS EX-CPC FAITHFUL, REFLECTS ON PARTY'S JOURNEY & TINUBU'S RISE

ABUJA – In a heartfelt courtesy visit to the residence of His Excellency, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, former Governor of Nasarawa State and the sole gubernatorial flagbearer of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011, a vibrant discussion unfolded, revisiting the party’s historic struggles and triumphs.


The visit, led by The National Chairman of APC-IGG, Ambassador Musa Tsoken, former CPC candidate for the Wukari II State House of Assembly, brought together party loyalists who reminisced about the fierce 2011 elections, where Al-Makura emerged as the only CPC governor in Nigeria.




The gathering, filled with nostalgia, celebrated the resilience of the CPC and its pivotal role in shaping the All Progressives Congress (APC), which later propelled Nigeria’s political landscape to new heights.


The conversation delved into the formation of the APC, a merger that united opposition forces and culminated in the historic election of General Muhammadu Buhari as President from 2015 to 2023.


Al-Makura, a key figure in the merger talks, shared insights into the strategic alliances and sacrifices that paved the way for the APC’s dominance.


The former governor highlighted the party’s ability to rally diverse groups under a shared vision of change, crediting the CPC’s grassroots strength for laying the foundation.


Attendees, including the former Wukari II candidate, Amb.Musa Tsoken recalled the challenges of campaigning under the CPC banner in 2011, emphasizing Al-Makura’s victory as a beacon of hope that inspired the opposition’s eventual success.


The discussion underscored the APC’s evolution into a formidable political force, with Al-Makura’s leadership as a cornerstone.


Looking ahead, the visit turned to the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, who assumed office in 2023.


The group expressed optimism about Tinubu’s leadership, often referring to him as the “Jagaban of Africa” for his political acumen and transformative vision. 


Al-Makura, who recently voiced his readiness to serve Tinubu in any capacity, reiterated his confidence in the APC’s potential to deliver on its promises through 2027 and beyond.


The former Wukari II candidate Hon.Tsoken echoed this sentiment, noting that the party’s unity and Tinubu’s reforms could secure another term until 2031, Insha Allah.


The visit ended with a renewed sense of camaraderie and commitment to the APC’s mission, as attendees pledged to support the party’s agenda for Nigeria’s progress.
