Great men, particularly men of profound influence, often exhibit a remarkable quality of simplicity when observed up close. This understated trait, far from diminishing their stature, enhances their authenticity and relatability.


When one has the privilege of being in their presence, it becomes evident that simplicity is not merely a lifestyle choice but a defining attribute of true greatness, reflecting humility, clarity of purpose, and an unwavering commitment to meaningful values.


Great men, often embody simplicity.


My journey with Baba Engr. Ahmed Kadi Amshi, FNSE, the immediate past Executive Chairman of the National Assembly, exemplifies this truth.


My first encounter with Baba was brief yet transformative when he first instructed, “his PA, to take this boy’s number (my phone number); He said, we will need him.” That moment marked the beginning of a life-changing opportunity.


On the same month I was asked to submit my CV, I received a federal appointment, a testament to Baba Engr. Amshi’s decisive and supportive nature.


Baba ability to recognize potential and act swiftly has been a cornerstone of his mentorship, for which I remain deeply grateful.


Engr. Amshi’s humility and warmth further define his character.


When I sought to pay a courtesy visit to express my gratitude some months ago, he informed me he was out of Abuja but promised to notify me upon his return.


True to baba word, he invited me to his home, setting our meeting for 12 noon.


Arriving early in baba residence, I was greeted with his characteristic humor: “JOHNFUSEH, it’s not yet 12 noon. What are you doing in my house?” He lightheartedly teased that.


The visit itself was a profound experience, filled with wisdom and encouragement.


Baba Engr. Amshi welcomed me into his home, insisting I share a meal before our discussion, a gesture that underscored his approachable and caring demeanor.


During our time together, baba offered invaluable advice, shared words of wisdom, and granted me unrestricted access to his guidance.


We discussed matters of personal and professional significance, and his prayers and encouragement further solidified my respect for him. 


I left with a renewed sense of purpose, deeply appreciative of his generosity and mentorship. 


Engr. Amshi’s impact on my life is immeasurable, and I will forever honor his kindness and support.


Baba, thank you so much for having me around sir 🙏 😊.
