FORMER TARABA LAWMAKER RESIGNS FROM APC, SIGNALS NEW POLITICAL PATH

In a candid media engagement at his Abuja residence, streamed live via Zoom by SumTV from their Jalingo studio, *Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi Danji SS,* former representative of Wukari and Ibbi Federal Constituency, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Citing a misalignment of ideologies and values with the party’s current direction at the state level, Shiddi emphasized his commitment to fairness, justice, and transparent electoral processes. “I put in my best for APC, but what was happening was not in line with my ideologies and values,” he stated.

Hon. Shiddi, who described his political journey as a “movement of the people,” urged his supporters to remain calm, promising to unveil a strategic action plan and new political direction soon.

Danji ss revealed that five political parties have approached him, though he dismissed speculations of joining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), noting that any decision would be made in consultation with his supporters to deliver good governance.

Shiddi expressed deep concern over the state of affairs in Taraba, particularly the government’s failure to address critical issues like the collapse of the Nammai Bridge and rising insecurity. 

He criticized the state administration for its lack of seriousness, rating Governor Agbu Kefas below three out of ten for performance, except in the timely payment of civil servants’ salaries. “The primary duty of every government is to secure lives and properties, but the government has failed in this area,” Shiddi remarked. 

Shiddi called for the deployment of Taraba Marshals with vehicles to patrol highways and major roads to curb insecurity. 

Additionally, he highlighted the need for improved infrastructure and an enabling environment to attract local and foreign investors, stressing that poor leadership, infrastructural decay, and disunity remain Taraba’s biggest challenges. “When you invest in local investors, others will come. 

Create good road networks and secure your people,” he advised.

Looking ahead, Shiddi kept his options open for future political contests, including gubernatorial or senatorial positions, emphasizing his belief in building a future for young people and generations beyond.

He lamented the suffering of Taraba residents due to natural disasters and government inaction, noting that his voice is less heard now due to his lack of political office.

Despite these challenges, Shiddi remained optimistic about Nigeria’s potential, urging citizens to pray for leaders and defend the nation’s sovereignty. “Other countries went through similar struggles before they succeeded.

As Nigerians, we can make it,” he concluded, reaffirming his commitment to altruistic service and a united Taraba.

His next political move, he assured, will aim to transform the state’s political landscape and deliver tangible development for its people.
