With this year’s theme, “Youth Action on SDGs and Beyond,” He emphasised the need to move from tokenism to meaningful youth leadership, in line with the Pact for the Future while he praise the creativity, innovation, and resilience of young Nigerians who are already localising the SDGs in their communities.
He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for youth innovation, partnership, and enterprise, stressing that the SDGs represent real commitments to people and communities, not just targets on paper.
He took time to highlight examples of youth impact, from grassroots climate action to tech-driven solutions in education and health, while commending the contributions of partners such as UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and UN Global Ambassador for Peace Maryam Bukar, whose work showcases how Nigerians can influence global frameworks.
While answering questions from participants at the dialogue, he noted that youth voices are already shaping and influencing government policies and programmes. He also noted that continued engagement between young people, government, and development partners will ensure more inclusive and impactful outcomes.
