We’ll Support Judith Matthew to Get Justice Ayodele Olawande Honourable Minister for Youth Development

WE’LL SUPPORT JUDITH MATTHEW TO GET JUSTICE

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, I condemn in the strongest possible terms the brutal attack and rape of Judith Ojonugwa Matthew — a respected Sickle Cell Advocate and content creator.

This horrific incident has deeply shaken us, and we stand firmly with Judith and every survivor of gender-based violence. We are committed to walking with her through this difficult journey and ensuring that justice prevails.

Immediately upon receiving the distressing report, I sent my Senior Special Assistant on Gender Matters to the hospital to offer support. The Ministry has since activated all relevant mechanisms, including the Nigerian Youth Help Desk, where Judith’s statement was formally taken. We are working closely with relevant authorities to escalate her case and provide comprehensive care and justice.

Our immediate Interventions Include:

* Ensuring Judith has access to a secure shelter and basic necessities.

* Coordinating with law enforcement agencies for a swift investigation and prosecution.

* Providing psychological counseling and trauma support services.

To Judith, I say this: What happened to you is not your fault. Your pain is valid, your voice matters, and you are not alone. I am here, we are here, and the Ministry is with you — unwavering in support.

We remain resolute in our fight against all forms of gender-based violence. Justice will not be delayed, and our commitment will not waver.

Ayodele Olawande

Honourable Minister for Youth Development
