A HEART SILENCED: MOURNING THE LOSS OF HONOURABLE GAMBO MUBARAK

The nickname "JF Mayor" still echoes in my heart, a playful title Honorable Mubarak gave me, always followed by his booming laugh.


Just last month, he teased, "JF Mayor, when will you stop looking for trouble?" his voice full of warmth and mischief.


We’d talk endlessly—two calls in a day weren’t unusual, and he’d always pick up, no matter how busy he was.


Our WhatsApp chats were a constant stream of jokes and wisdom, his jovial spirit lighting up every conversation.


Honorable Mubarak wasn’t just a man of stature; he was a leader, a mentor, a father, an uncle, a friend, a brother, whose easygoing nature made everyone feel at home.


Two days ago, while in Jos, I called to check on him in the hospital. His voice, usually so vibrant, was faint, heavy with struggle.


I hung up, hoping it was just a bad day, praying he’d bounce back like always.


But this evening, stepping out of the National Assembly, I opened my phone to a flood of WhatsApp messages—condolence posts, tributes, and the gut-wrenching news of his passing.


My heart sank. The man who filled rooms with laughter, who never let a call go unanswered, was gone.


The weight of his absence hit me like a wave, and I couldn’t help but replay his voice calling me "JF Mayor" one more time.


Honorable Mubarak’s death leaves a void that words can’t capture. His kindness, his humor, his unshakable presence touched so many lives, mine included.


As I join countless others in mourning, my prayers are with his family, asking Allah to envelop them in strength and peace.


May his soul find eternal rest, forgiven and cherished by the Almighty Allah. 🙏 🙏 


Honorable, you’ll be missed more than words can ever say, but your laughter, your warmth, will live on in every heart you touched.
