NUJ NASS CHAPEL GEARS UP FOR INTERNATIONAL PRESS WEEK WITH FOCUS ON TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND NEW MEDIA

Yesterday in ABUJA – In preparation for the upcoming International Press Week in October, I paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Abdulkadir Sarafadeen, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), National Assembly (NASS) Chapel, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.


My visit centered on discussions about the role of truth and justice as cornerstones of professional journalism and the strategic preparations for the highly anticipated Press Week. 


My Chairman Mr. Sarafadeen expressed enthusiasm about the evolving landscape of new media and its significant impact on shaping democratic discourse in Nigeria.


Mr. Sarafadeen highlighted the importance of media practitioners upholding integrity and professionalism in an era where information dissemination plays a critical role in nation-building.


During the visit, I  commended Mr. Sarafadeen for his instrumental role in facilitating my transfer and others few Journalists for an NUJ membership to the NASS Chapel in Abuja.


As a mentor and leader in the media field, Mr. Sarafadeen support was pivotal in ensuring my seamless transition for the member, who i now joins the esteemed ranks of NASS Chapel correspondents.


The chairman warmly felicitated my move, emphasizing the value of mentorship and collaboration in opening doors for journalists.


Mr. Sarafadeen leadership continues to inspire the next generation of media professionals, fostering an environment where ethical journalism thrives within the bustling press corps of the National Assembly.


Following the productive editorial meeting, the opportunity was seized to also pay a courtesy visit to my boss, Distinguished Senator Garba Umar Maidoki of Kebbi South. 


My visit focuses on the importance of maintaining strzong relationships between the media and public officials to promote transparency and accountability.


The Press Centre at the National Assembly, a hub of relentless activity, remains a testament to the vibrant role journalists play in documenting the nation’s legislative processes.


As International Press Week approaches, the NUJ NASS Chapel is poised to celebrate the media’s contributions to democracy while reinforcing its commitment to truth, justice, and professional excellence.
