PROBE SUBEB JOB RACKETEERING NOW, EX-ONDO LAWMAKER TELLS ASSEMBLY 








A former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, who represented Akure South Constituency 1 and served as Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Simeon Toluwani Borokini has called on the State Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji to urgently initiate a full scale investigation into the recent job racketeering scandal at the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).


Borokini described the incident, which saw several individuals protesting after being issued fake appointment letters, as “an embarrassment to the government and the people of Ondo State.” 


According to him, this unfortunate development undermines public trust in our institutions, inflicts unnecessary hardship and frustration on job seekers, and casts a shadow on the credibility of recruitment processes in the state.


The former lawmaker however appreciated the swift response of the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, commending his prompt action in ensuring that the matter was not swept under the carpet. 


He also acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in promptly ordering investigations, which led to the detection and apprehension of three individuals allegedly involved in the scam.

Borokini noted that such a proactive stance reassures citizens that the government will not tolerate fraudulent practices.


He emphasized that the House Committee on Education, Science, and Technology must still exercise its constitutional mandate by carrying out it's oversight,  probing the matter, identifying those responsible, and recommending sanctions. 


He noted that such action is necessary to restore public confidence in the education sector and to entrench transparency and meritocracy in recruitment exercises.


Furthermore, he stressed that unemployed youths in the state deserve fairness, accountability, and justice, urging the Assembly to treat the issue with urgency and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable.
