THE ONDO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY HAS LAUDED THE AIYEDATIWA LED ADMINISTRATION FOR WOMEN VISIBILTY IN GOVERNANCE, WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE.


.... Describes Women Affairs Ministry as an Impactful Ministry, pledges  10th Assembly's supports towards The O'datiwa Bridge The Gap Initiative, and other transformative programmes aimed at empowering women, persons with disabilities and the Vulnerables.

Yesterday, 15th day of September, 2025, the Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs, led by its Chairman, Hon. Prophetess Witherspoon Atinuke  Member representing Owo Constituency II, who was Accompained by other Lawmakers,  including the Majority Leader, Chief Olatunji Oshati, Former Majority Leader, Hon Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, Primate Oluwatoyin Allen and Fatai Atere to the Ministry paid a working and familiarization visit to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.




The visit commenced with a tour of the ministry’s facilities, where lawmakers interacted with Students of the Skill Up a Woman initiative in tailoring, ICT, and confectioneries classes. They encouraged the trainees  to maximize the opportunity for self-reliance and empowerment.






Welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner, Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for revitalizing the ministry, living the talk on access to opportunities for women and creating safe spaces for women empowerment across the state. She highlighted the ministry’s 10-point agenda, particularly the Odatiwa Bridge the Gap initiative, which decentralizes skill acquisition to reach grassroots women. She further commended the Renewed Hope Initiative of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, noting upcoming empowerment packages and scholarships that will benefit Elderly, and students and Vulnerables including the Disabilities Clusters in Ondo State.

Dr. Osamaye Eulogized  the committee chairman, Hon Witherspoon for her long-standing commitment to women development and extended appreciation to the Speaker, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, Majority Leader and other lawmakers for their consistent supports. She emphasized that the ministry had been dormant before Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed leadership, but his exemplary governance has since repositioned it to deliver effectively on its mandate. Stressing the need for wider collaboration with NGOs, philanthropists, and individuals, she called for joint efforts to ensure that more women benefit from ongoing programs.


In their responses, lawmakers including Hon. Ogunmolasuyi, hon Oshati, Hon. Ateere, and Hon. Allen commended the Governor of The State, his Excellency Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his 'eagle eye' for the  appointment of Dr Seun Osamaye as Commissioner and also  for  remarkable strides evident in the Ministry in recent time especially in identifying and addressing the needs of women across all local governments. They  equally applauded the staff and management of the ministry for their dedication and assured of the Assembly’s readiness to partner in reviewing bills and supporting programs that advance women’s welfare. In her closing remarks, Hon. Witherspoon  pledged continued collaboration with the ministry to secure greater opportunities and representation for women in Ondo State.


The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from Mrs. Ronke Filani, the Director of Finance and Administration of the ministry, and a closing prayer was said in unison. In attendance were Hon Kelvin Solomon Olaoluwa, SSA Students Matters and other directors and staffs of the ministry.
