The Minister of Youth Development today visited Innoson in Nnewi, Anambra State, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, and other members of his team from the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.




The visit, which took place on a Monday, held deep symbolism in a region where Mondays are often marked by “sit-at-home” restrictions. The Minister noted that choosing to work and engage on such a day reflects the collective resolve to keep moving forward despite challenges.



The Minister's delegation was warmly received by the Chairman and CEO of Innoson, Chief Innocent Chukwuma (OFR), who conducted them around the factory. The Minister was inspired by Chief Chukwuma's humility and hands-on commitment to Nigeria's progress, which underscored not just leadership but a profound sense of national duty.




At Innoson, the Minister witnessed the living proof of Nigerian innovation and resilience, with the company expanding into CNG Vehicle production and conversion, plastic manufacturing, tractor assembly, and even a rice mill. These initiatives represent new frontiers for job creation, industrial growth, and youth empowerment.





The Minister interacted with some of the young Nigerians who have benefited from Innoson's technical training and apprenticeship programmes, including two remarkable young women trained as auto-technicians. He noted that their stories beautifully capture the transformative power of skills and opportunity.







The Minister stated that what Chief Innocent Chukwuma has built is more than a company; it is a statement of belief that Nigerians can produce excellence. He emphasized that together, they will expand that belief into a nationwide reality.


As a natural outcome of the visit, the Minister's team is working on a partnership with Innoson to scale youth training, apprenticeship, and enterprise development across Nigeria, especially within the automotive value chain and allied sectors.


The Minister also engaged with the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, on how to deepen collaboration between the Federal and State Governments.


They discussed expanding the reach and impact of the “1 Youth, 2 Skills” campaign, with a commitment to equipping more young Nigerians with practical, income-generating skills that drive self-reliance and productivity across the country.
