The Ichen Cultural and Development Association (ICADA), Abuja Branch, successfully hosted its grand Cultural Day yesterday, gathering a host of distinguished personalities and members of the Ichen community at the Dr. Maryam Abacha Auditorium Hall, opposite the CBN Head Office.

The event was chaired by the esteemed Senator David S.U. Jimkuta, representing Taraba South.

The occasion was further graced by the presence of Mrs. Deborah Emmanuel Bwacha, who ably represented her husband, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha Esq, CON, the Father of the Day.

Presiding over the event as Chief Host was Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (Rtd), a respected Honorable Commissioner of the Police Service Commission (REPRESENTATED).

The high-profile guest list also included Special Guest of Honour, Damian Dodo, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and Mother of the Day, Justice Nafsat Usman Fwayan, Chief Judge of Adamawa State, alongside Ambassador Usman Muhammed Fwayan (AVM Rtd) and Engineer Bala Bello.

Keynote speakers at the ceremony emphasized the crucial role of culture in unity and development.

Damian Dodo, SAN, shared a nostalgic memory, recalling that he first witnessed the ICADA dance in 1979.

DODO charged the association to elevate the scope of the Cultural Day beyond just "dancing, singing, and cultural attires," urging it to focus on uniting the Ichen people, empowering them, and fostering a strong sense of identity and mutual support.

Echoing this sentiment, Ambassador Muhammed Fwayan (AVM Rtd) praised the Ichen leadership for initiating the cultural gathering, stressing the significance of community cohesion.

Distinguished Senator David S.U Jimkuta, while apologizing for his late arrival due to prior engagements, reaffirmed the importance of the event, describing the Ichen Cultural Day as a unique and essential gathering in Abuja.

In a show of solidarity and commitment to the association’s goals, the visiting dignitaries made significant financial contributions, collectively donating sums in both millions of Naira and dollars.

The success of the event shows the collective effort of the ICADA Abuja branch to preserve their cultural roots while promoting empowerment and unity among its people, setting a strong precedent for future community development initiatives.
