OGSA Alumni Association Hands Over Multimillion-Naira Perimeter Fence to Oyemekun Grammar School





Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure (OGSA), has taken a monumental leap forward in securing its legacy, thanks to the unwavering dedication of its global alumni network.



In a historic event on December 13, 2025, the OGSA Alumni Association officially commissioned a state-of-the-art, 500-meter perimeter fence, marking a new era of safety, order, and pride for the institution.




The newly constructed fence, equipped with five modern access gates, stands as a testament to the collective strength of Oyemekun’s alumni. Funded entirely through generous contributions from graduates across generations and continents, this multimillion-naira project was completed ahead of schedule, reinforcing the power of shared vision and commitment.




The commissioning ceremony was graced by key stakeholders, including:

Dr. Adeniyi Ijogun, Global President of OGSA Alumni Association, Prof. Opeyemi Oniya (Snr.), Chairman of the Project Committee (represented by Engr. Ayodeji Olarerin), PTA representatives, Artisans and school management



In his address, Dr. Ijogun expressed immense pride in the project’s timely completion, stating:

“This was meant to surprise us all—and indeed it has. It reflects what unity, vision, and commitment can achieve when alumni come together for the good of their alma mater.”


Prof. Oniya, through his representative Engr. Olarerin (Class of ’82), emphasized that the fence is more than just physical infrastructure:

“What we unveil today is a symbol of our unity and our pledge to give back to the school that shaped us. It ensures safety for students and staff while restoring order to our cherished institution.”


The project was not without hurdles. Engr. Olarerin, Head of the Technical Team, revealed that the team navigated land disputes, spiritual concerns, and logistical obstacles—all overcome through perseverance and alumni solidarity.


“I am fulfilled that we delivered this on schedule. Before, unauthorized movement plagued the school. Now, normalcy and security are restored.”


The fence is more than a barrier—it’s a beacon of hope and a foundation for future development. As applause filled the school grounds, one truth resonated: when alumni remember their roots, education grows stronger.


This achievement underscores OGSA’s ethos: “Once an Oyemekunite, always an Oyemekunite.” The Alumni Association remains committed to fostering excellence, security, and sustainable growth for generations to come.
