TARABANS IN ABUJA STRENGTHEN BONDS FOR MUTUAL DEVELOPMENT AT END-OF-YEAR EVENT

The spirit of unity and shared development resonated through Abuja yesterday, Sunday, December 7, 2025, as the Tarabans Residents in Abuja association hosted its successful end-of-year event, "Taraba Day."


The event, Held at the Luxe Lush Event Center within the River Plate Garden in Wuse Two, the gathering focused on the crucial theme: "Nigeria and Taraba: Strengthening Bonds for Mutual Development." The event drew an impressive turnout of Tarabans residing in the Federal Capital Territory and the diaspora, alongside esteemed dignitaries.


The occasion was chaired by the respected Barr. Danladi Kifasi Mni, while other notable attendees included Aig. Dr. Aishatu Abubakar Baju as Mother of the Day, and Archbishop. Prof. Leonard Bature Kawas, President of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, as Father of the Day.


Adding spiritual gravitas was Sheihk Abdullahi Bala Lau, one of the top prominent religious leaders to grace the event, which also saw the Honorable Minister of State for the Ministry of Regional Development, H.E. Barr. Uba Ahmadu Maigari, represented by his Chief of Protocol and Director of Media and Publicity.


​The event kicked off with opening remarks from the Chairman of Tarabans Residents in Abuja, Ambassador. Daniel Likam JP. 


Ambassador Likam warmly welcomed the dignitaries, expressing profound gratitude for their consistent support and willingness to honor his invitations, noting that the association would not take their "kind gesture" for granted.


Following this, the Chairman of the occasion, Barr. Danladi Kifasi Mni, lauded the association efforts towards unity and development.


The highly anticipated keynote address was delivered by the Guest Speaker, Mr. William Karshima, CEO of Kashco International (USA). 


Speaking on the imperative of strengthening bonds for mutual development, Mr. Karshima delivered a powerful message: "When the hands that should build start pointing instead, no wall will ever rise." He emphasized that "unity is not just standing together—it is growing together" and that development "is built when hearts, hands, and hopes unite." 


His lecture was strategically structured around three critical dimensions: The Myths (addressing misconceptions like development being only about growth and foreign aid as the main driver), The Synergy (underscoring how strong bonds cultivate public trust, empower innovation, and build institutional resilience), and The Pathway.


​A major highlight of the day was a significant philanthropic gesture that underscored the spirit of appreciation.


Dr. Saleem Iliyasu Goje, CEO of Dan Mama, presented a car gift worth {2M₦ )to the convener, Ambassador Daniel Likam JP, in recognition of his tireless good deeds and commitment to fostering unity among Tarabans in Abuja.


Furthermore, the celebration was marked by a prestigious awards presentation, honoring leaders for their meaningful contributions to humanity and Taraba state.


The distinguished recipients included Senator David S.U Jimkuta (Best Politician of the Year), Muazu Jaji Sambo CON, FNIOB (Outstanding Contributions to Community and Human Development), Chief. Barr. Gataps NgwII (Excellence in Leadership), and Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika (Forever Friend).


Other awardees were Barr. Umar Bangari (Silent Achiever of the Year), Madam. Aisha Muhammad Athanacio (NANA) (Lifetime Humanitarian Services), Dr. Saleem Goje (Youth Model of the Year), Hon. Bibonga N. Dinkomiya (Most Accessible Personality), Mr. Fanuel D. Lawrence (Rising Star in the Public Service), Mr. Michael Magaji (Outstanding Public Servant Award), Dr. Ikpi Kadiri Angulu PhD. (Most Compassionate Award of the Year), and Mr. Josiah Habu (Public Service Innovation Award).


​Ambassador Daniel Likam JP concluded the event with heartfelt closing remarks and appreciation. He thanked the leadership, the entire team, and every participant who traveled from both far and within Abuja to attend. 


Reaffirming his commitment to the association's mission, he promised never to disappoint the community, bringing the successful event to a close and setting an optimistic tone for Taraba's collective future within the broader Nigerian context.
