RISE OF THE YOUNG LEADERS: Ondo East LG Boss Hon Joshua Appoints Outstanding Students as A-Day Acting Executive Chairman and Vice Chairman, Paving Way for Future Leaders

The Executive Chairman of Ondo East Local Government, Hon Joshua Fola Ogunduyilemi, has on Tuesday January 13, 2026, taken a bold step in empowering the youth and promoting academic excellence in the local government.



In a move that showcases his commitment to education support and youth inclusiveness in governance, Hon Joshua has appointed two outstanding students, Precilia O Phillip and Abdulsalam O Muhammed, as A-Day Acting Executive Chairman and Vice Chairman of Ondo East respectively.


The appointment, which was made following their outstanding performance in a quiz and debate competition held during a Youth Summit organized by the Ondo East Youth Council led by the president of the council Comrade Tomide Akinkuolie, is a testament to Hon Joshua's dedication to giving young people a voice in governance. 


The A-Day Acting Executive Chairman, Hon Miss Precilia O Phillip, and Vice Chairman, Hon Abdulsalam, officially took office and wasted no time in hitting the ground running. In her speech, Hon Precilia expressed gratitude to Hon Joshua Fola Ogunduyilemi for the leadership opportunity and pledged to work with stakeholders for Ondo East's development.


As part of her duties, Hon Precilia visited public secondary schools, solicited for classroom renovations with furniture, supply of computer systems and educational scholarships for best students.


She also appointed Mr Phillip Meschach Sunday as her Personal Assistant for the day. Hon. Precilia was met with praise from students, teachers, and the community, who hailed Hon Joshua's gesture as a first in Ondo East LG's history.


Hon Joshua's gesture is in line with the "Our Ease" Agenda Initiative of the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, which aims to bring ease to the people.





The Executive Chairman's commitment to education support is evident in his decision to award scholarships to the appointed students, including payment of their NECO and JAMB registration fees. He also presented cash gifts to the students, with the A-Day Acting Executive Chairman receiving #50,000 and the Vice Chairman receiving #30,000.



The event, which was attended by dignitaries including the Vice Chairman of Ondo East LG, Hon Seyi Oguntimehin, LG Secretary Hon Mrs Apeke Catherine Ishola, the Area Education Officer OELG, APC Political Leaders, Community Stakeholders, principals, teachers and students of Ondo East Local Government was a celebration of the youth and their potential to lead. Hon Joshua's administration is committed to creating opportunities for young people and promoting academic excellence in Ondo East. 


The appointment of these young leaders is a clear indication of his dedication to youth empowerment and inclusive governance.
