THE VOICE OF THE PODIUM, HOW BABA KABIRU MARAFA MASTERED THE ART OF THE HYPE

​There is a specific kind of magic that happens when a master of ceremonies truly understands the weight of the moment.


For many in Taraba State, that magic is synonymous with Baba Kabiru Marafa, the retired Permanent Secretary of Protocol, Government House Jalingo. 


Whether I am at home or in the office, I find myself captivated by his voice through the TV screen; Baba Marafa possesses a rare, "maximally educated" sophistication that turns a standard government program into a masterclass of intellectual hype. Lol 😆 🤣 


Earlier today at work, after I shared a tribute to his unique ability to hail dignitaries, in Taraba  Government  sponsored programme—including our "most intelligent VP"—with such courageous and simplified eloquence, the post went viral. I also posted that about Baba Kabiru three days ago in all my social media platforms. 


It seems I am not alone in my admiration toward Baba Kabiru; Baba Kabiru is the only reason I’ll stay glued to my parlor chair to watch a local broadcast happening back at home. 


​The impact of baba Kabiru voice reached a crescendo this morning in my own office at the Information and Protocol Department. 


As a video of Baba anchoring a top Government event played aloud, the room went silent. My Deputy Director, struck by the power and poise of the speaker, asked, "Who is that man?" Just as I was introducing his legacy to her, my phone rang.


In a moment of pure serendipity, it was Baba Kabiru himself. Though we had never met, his voice was unmistakable—resonant, kind, and commanding. It was a bridge between a legendary career in the Government House and a new generation of protocol officers eager to learn from the best. Lol 😆 🤣 


​When I handed the phone to my Deputy Director, she asked the question we all wanted the answer to: "What is the secret to being this good?" Baba Marafa response was a blueprint for excellence. He emphasized that a great MC must "read widely and know everything," building a foundation of knowledge that breeds unshakable self-confidence.


Baba futher said; But beyond the books and the boldness, he offered a deeper truth. He credited his legendary career to the Grace of God, noting that while preparation is essential, it is divine grace that truly elevates a man.


It was a humbling reminder from baba Kabiru, that true mastery is a blend of a sharp mind, a bold heart, and a grateful spirit.


I have read so many things about Kabiru Dahiru Marafa, I read for the first time from my mentor and coach; Professor Farooq Adamu kperogi where he said Baba Kabiru is his classmate at Bayero University Kano. Kperogi always address Baba Kabiru as an accomplished Broadcaster even before going back to school. Baba used to wow them with his wit, and rich diction, and irresistibly electric personality. Lol 😆 🤣 

Let me stop here for now 😆 


Thank you so dearly for inspiring we the young generation. 

I get angry in life when I see young people don't want to read.
