In a historic gathering that blended cultural pride with administrative milestone, the Ichen Cultural and Development Association (ICADA) officially commissioned its Abuja Branch Secretariat, Yamuje House, at Auta Balefi earlier today, February 1, 2026.

The event, which doubled as the branch's one-year anniversary, reached its pinnacle when Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (Rtd), Justice of the Supreme Court and current Federal Commissioner of the Police Service Commission, performed the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon.

Surrounded by a distinguished gallery of guests—including Mr. Benjamin Ilisha Bibinu, ACP Tino Dangana,  AlhajiTanko, mr. Gidado galadima,  Rev. Chaseh,Boniface Jnr, elder Whino Isa, Hon. Tuno samuila,  Dr. Magaji Waziri  isa, mr. Jacob Simon,  Mr. Nukah Danjuma Didan, Mr. Chindo, Mr. Yakubu Bwachi, and THE MAYOR OF TARABA (JOHNFUSEH)—the commissioning marked a new chapter for the Ichen people in the Federal Capital Territory, transforming a vision of brick and mortar into a permanent home for community development.

Delivering a stirring keynote address that resonated with deep emotion, Justice Galumje lauded the executives for their tenacity in completing the project, confessing his immense pride in seeing the Ichen people establish a physical legacy. "This is the first time I am seeing our people build a secretariat of this magnitude," the retired jurist remarked, emphasizing that Yamuje House must serve as a sanctuary for harmony.

BABA Galumje passionately challenged the congregation to prioritize brotherly love as the foundation of any relationship, asserting that those who cannot love their kin are unfit for friendship.

In a moment that captured the hearts of the audience, the elder statesman announced his intention to author a book on the unity of the Ichen people, urging the younger generation to remain firm, courageous, and unapologetic about their heritage.

The ceremony, which began with soulful prayers led by Dr. Magaji Waziri and Pastor Boniface Chaseh Jnr, was anchored by a warm welcome from the ICADA FCT Chairman, Mr. Jatau Bala Kpano. Mr. Kpano Gbana expressed profound gratitude to the dignitaries who honored the invitation despite their demanding schedules, noting that the presence of such high-profile leaders validates the association progress.

Justice Galumje concluded the day with a powerful charge to the Ichen community: "Ichen people are not timid; we are strong people, we are fighters." As the event drew to a close, he offered a final blessing for the unity of the tribe to endure, leaving the attendees with an optimistic sense of identity and a collective mission to build a stronger, more cohesive Ichen nation from their new FCT base.
