A campaign group supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation for Tinubu (LACOT), has begun reconciliation efforts within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
The move was announced during the Ondo Central meeting of the group held in Akure at the weekend.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director-General of LACOT in Ondo Central, Olumuyiwa Adu, popularly known as Adu Cubana, said the group was working to reconcile aggrieved party members and strengthen unity within the party ahead of future elections.
According to him, disagreements within a political party are normal and can be resolved through dialogue and reconciliation.
Adu added that members of the group were united by their resolve to secure victory for the president in the state.
“I do not believe that some people who left over disagreements cannot be brought back. The APC is a big family, and in a big family, there are bound to be disagreements.
“We are united as a group by our resolve to win the state for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we have the capacity to do it.
“Already, we have taken steps to ensure that the party is not divided, and members have been reconciled,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the party would secure more votes in the next presidential, National Assembly, and state assembly elections than it did in 2023.
Adu also revealed that he had branded 25 vehicles and provided logistics to support awareness campaigns for the president’s re-election.
Earlier, Hon. Idowu Otetubi FCA, the Director-General of LACOT, said the group had put structures in place across the 18 local government areas of the state.
He noted that the organisation would soon be officially inaugurated by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, even as he reiterated LACOT’s determination to mobilise massive support for Tinubu in the state.
“Just as the chairman and convener of LACOT, Dipo Okeyomi, said, we are determined to deliver overwhelming votes for President Tinubu in Ondo State,” Hon. Idowu Otetubi FCA stated.
He assured that the Ondo Central part of the LACOT team would deliver the entire senatorial district—comprising Ondo West, Ondo East, Akure North, Akure South, Idanre, and Ifedore council areas—to Tinubu.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General of LACOT, Bisi Ogungbemi, commended members of the group for their loyalty and commitment to the party.
Ogungbemi noted that beyond the main APC members, the group had attracted support from different sectors, including drivers’ unions, artisans, market men and women, professionals, and other community groups working toward the re-election of the president.
