Education is one of the leading instruments for enhancing economic growth because it helps to promote human capabilities through knowledge and skill to create a progressive society.


To ensure that many young Nigerians can pursue their dreams without the financial burden that often hinders academic success, the Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Sen. Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, decided to support students with exceptional potential but limited financial resources.


This initiative was not just about financial support but creating opportunities for the next generation to excel and make meaningful contributions to society. 


Senator. Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, is a firm believer that education is the bedrock of a nation and that an educated nation is a developed nation.


Therefore, he wouldn't relent in his efforts in assisting less privileged students in their quest to get a good education.


One of such is the story of Elizabeth Ogunmodede who is on university scholarship under the tutelage of distinguished Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, to study Law at Joseph Ayo Babalola University(JABU), Ikeji Arakeji Osun State.


This singular example is not the first in the series of  Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire's philanthropic gesture.


Over the years, he has quietly and consistently supported numerous students in their quest for academic excellence.


Elizabeth Ogunmodede, a native of Akure was born in the year 2007 to the family of Mr and Mrs. Ogunmodede. She started and completed her secondary school education at C. A. C Grammar School, Akure in the year 2023, graduating with flying colours as the Most Outstanding Student of the set.


Elizabeth Ogunmodede's scholarship education is  worth several million of naira per session and the senator has promised to pay all through the duration of her course at JABU and to the Nigerian Law School .


Elizabeth Academic Strides :


In the year 2021, she won the Ondo State Spelling Bee Competition organized by Spell and Thrill in conjunction with the Ondo State Ministry of Education. 

She was also the Senior Prefect Girl during her set at C. A. C Grammar School Akure, 


Elizabeth Ogunmodede discovered her gift of writing from Primary one and before age 10, she had become a voracious reader, writer and author, all thanks to the immense support from her father.


"My dad would buy me a lot of books of various literary genres; prose, drama, poetry, and nonfiction books. Before I began secondary school, I had read books by Wole Soyinka, Chimammanda Ngozi Adichie, Enid Blyton, Ben Carson, amongst others." she said. 


By the year 2023, she had written six books, five of which were published in the United States of America and one in Nigeria, all to her credit.


The books are:

1. Tremendous Words, poems from an African teen.

2. The Beauty of Words, a collection of poems.

3. Ladder to the Top, a book of prose and poetry for young adults.

4. Ladder to the Top, a book of prose for young adults.

5. I Love To Go To School, a collection of poems for children.

6. Lessons from Grandma, a collection of short stories


She is presently working on her seventh book.


Elizabeth Ogunmodede attributed her success to three things: The grace of God, hard work, support from her parents and her family.


 Her Dream:


Elizabeth Ogunmodede has been mentoring other young children and she dreamt of being a a role model to young Nigerians and Africans so as to have more products of her like- mind in the society.


"To be one of the best, if not the greatest and youngest Nigerian writer on the international scene." She affirmed 


She also dreamt of fighting for human rights and the oppressed in the day and at night to let her imagination come to light through writing. 


Elizabeth Ogunmodede grew up loving God and serving him from her tender age .


When she was asked how she met the senator


 "I went to a church program one day to promote my books and the senator was also in attendance, that was how I met him.


"The scholarship opportunity given to me by the senator was the least of my expectations.


"After the scholarship opportunity, my parents and I have tried to meet him in person to appreciate him but he always considered it not necessary.


"Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire is an amazing soul, and my family and I are sincerely grateful to him " she responded 


Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire's commitment to nurturing intellectual potential can be described as second to none and a clarion call to other well- meaning Nigerians to invest in the intellectual development of the younger generation.
