ONDO CENTRAL APC SENATORIAL PRIMARY: ADEGBONMIRE IN EARLY LEAD, SWEEPS AKURE SOUTH LGA.
Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, representing Ondo Central has taken an early and commanding lead in the Ondo Central APC Senatorial Primary Elections, recording a landslide victory in Akure South Local Government Area.
According to results announced by returning officers, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire polled an impressive 6,332 votes in Akure South LGA to emerge far ahead of other aspirants. Taiwo Fasoranti secured 452 votes, while Olumuyiwa Adu scored 679 votes.
The overwhelming support recorded by Senator Adegbonmire across the wards in Akure South is a clear reflection of the confidence party members and constituents have in his quality representation, impactful legislative contributions, and grassroots political strength.
However, the exercise was not without challenges as there were reported security concerns in some wards, particularly Ward 5, where sporadic gunshots allegedly fired by some miscreants loyal to Taiwo Fasoranti caused panic in an apparent attempt to intimidate supporters of Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire and disrupt the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
In another disturbing development, there was reportedly no member of the electoral committee present at St. Peter’s Unity, Akure South collation centre to officially receive results when the returning officers for Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire arrived at the venue.
Despite these challenges, party faithful remained resolute and committed to ensuring that the will of APC members prevailed through peaceful participation and vigilance.
As more results continue to emerge from other local government areas across Ondo Central Senatorial District, supporters of OMO EKUN remain optimistic that the early lead recorded in Akure South will translate into overall victory at the primaries.
