The atmosphere was filled with unity, confidence, and renewed commitment as leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure North Local Government gathered to reaffirm their total support for the member representing Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency, Derin Adesida, ahead of the party primary election.


The strategic meeting, held in preparation for  APC primary election, was anchored by Hon. Saka Yusuf, a respected two-term former Commissioner and Director General of Grassroot Movement for Tinubu.


The gathering had in attendance prominent stakeholders and leaders across Akure North Local Government including Hon. Dayo Awude, Hon. Fagorola, Hon. Ebenezer Alabi, Hon. (Mrs.) Taiwo, Seven serving councillors in the local government council, Leaders from different wards, Immediate past Special Assistants to the Governor, and other party faithful.


Hon. Saka Yusuf praised Hon. Derin Adesida for what he described as outstanding and impactful legislative representation. He noted that the federal lawmaker has consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people through meaningful empowerment and developmental projects since his first tenure between 2007–2011 and his current tenure from 2023 till date.


According to him, Hon. Derin Adesida has facilitated employment opportunities for youths into paramilitary agencies including the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Navy, and the Nigeria Police Force. He further highlighted several developmental interventions carried out by the lawmaker, including the distribution of transformers to communities, construction of classroom blocks with instructional materials, provision of boreholes in public primary schools, road construction projects in Oba-Ile, and facilitation of a sub-station along the Akure–Ado Ekiti axis.


Hon. Saka Yusuf also revealed that another phase of massive youth employment opportunities is currently underway, stressing that Hon. Derin Adesida has remained a strong believer in human empowerment and grassroots development.


Hon. Derin Adesida appreciated the leaders and party members for their continued support and trust in his leadership. He reiterated his commitment to empowering the people through job facilitation and life-changing opportunities.


The federal lawmaker further disclosed that the first phase of  empowerment programme would commence in June, while another phase is scheduled for December this year. He assured constituents that more impactful projects and empowerment initiatives are on the way.


Mrs. Akinde Modupe, offered prayers for Hon. Derin Adesida and confidently assured him of victory in the forthcoming APC primary election. She also commended the planned empowerment programme expected to begin in June, describing it as another demonstration of responsive representation.


Speaking on behalf of the councillors, Hon. Ilesanmi Oluwatoyin appreciated the federal lawmaker for his achievements and developmental strides across the federal constituency. She appealed for more empowerment opportunities and developmental projects for the people at the grassroots.


She declared that the councillors, party leaders, and APC members in Akure North are fully mobilised and prepared to work tirelessly for Hon. Derin Adesida’s victory at the party primary election.


“We did it before, and we are ready to do it again,” she declared confidently, reaffirming the commitment of the party structure in Akure North to the re-election bid of Hon. Derin Adesida.
