Akure East LCDA Mourns the Passing of Oba Rev. Luyi Rotimi, Olujigba of Ijigba Land


The leadership of Akure East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oda, extends heartfelt condolences to the royal family and the entire community of Ijigba over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Rev. Luyi Rotimi, the Olujigba of Ijigba land.


This was contained in a press statement made available to Democrat News Magazine in Akure on the 24th of April, 2025.


Oba Rev. Luyi Rotimi was one of Nigeria’s pioneering figures in the banking sector, a former Managing Director of the defunct National Bank of Nigeria, and a revered elder statesman.


Kabiyesi, you were a father figure to many, including myself—an erudite economist, a banking guru, outspoken, brilliant, and meticulous. I hold dear your unwavering support that culminated to 18-0 PROMAX Governorship election of our principal, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, particularly your strategic input in Akure East LCDA.




Your private counsel and fatherly encouragement remain etched in my heart. You were passionate about the growth and future of our LCDA, and your legacy will not be forgotten.


Rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ, Kabiyesi.
