In a momentous occasion marked by admiration and deep respect, the leadership and people of Akure East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oda, have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Sunday Ifedayo Abegunde, fondly known as ABENA, on the joyous celebration of his 70th birthday anniversary, as well as his grand conferment as the Asiwaju of Akure Land.


The double milestone—a landmark birthday and a revered traditional title—reflects not only personal achievement but also the enduring impact of Hon. Abegunde’s contributions to the development of Ondo State and Nigeria at large. These honors signify the deep appreciation of a grateful community for decades of selfless service, integrity, and leadership.


Hon. Abegunde has served his people with unwavering dedication, holding numerous key roles including two-term Member of the House of Representatives, Chairman of the Ondo State Afforestation Project, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Ondo State, and Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). In each role, he has left an indelible mark of excellence and commitment.


His elevation to the highly esteemed position of Asiwaju of Akure is a fitting tribute to his legacy as a visionary leader and bridge-builder—one whose wisdom, experience, and compassion have inspired generations. As Asiwaju, Hon. Abegunde now steps into an even more prominent role in guiding the cultural and communal progress of Akure.
