I'm A Democrat, Don't Abuse Anyone Eyeing My Seat, Adegbonmire Urges Supporters




Adegbonmire said members of the party should always be conscious of the fact that they would all come together to work for the APC candidates when the primary elections are over irrespective of whoever that emerge.















The lawmaker representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, has called on his supporters not to be antagonistic to any member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that is aspiring to contest the party's nomination with him.


Adegbonmire gave the appeal while addressing some of his supporters at the weekend in his constituency office, Oba Adesida Road, Akure, the state capital. 


The senator, who described himself as a democrat, said it was not a sin for any qualified APC member to dream of representing the people of the senatorial district at the Senate. 


He appealed to his supporters not to engage in any conduct or politics that could undermine the unity of the party in the state. 


Adegbonmire said members of the party should always be conscious of the fact that they would all come together to work for the APC candidates when the primary elections are over irrespective of whoever that emerge. 


He said: "I would like to implore all my supporters not to see any member of our party that wants to be senator as an enemy. It is the saying of our people that it is a bad thing that people will not contest with you. 


"I am a democrat and I have a background of progressive politics. My father was a progressive politician till his death. I've been following the path he showed us. 


"If it is only about the welfare of our people and the progress of our senatorial district, there is no reason we should be antagonistic to one another. Let see ourselves as members of the same family. 


"This is because after the primaries, we will still come together to work for the success of our party irrespective of who emerges as the standard bearer."
