A wave of concern is sweeping across Ondo Central as women from various communities rise in strong solidarity with Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, Senator representing Ondo Central, declaring their unwavering support amid what they describe as a “politically insensitive and divisive move” by the State governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.


Under the banner of “Concerned Ondo Women,” the group expressed deep disappointment over the governor’s alleged backing of former SSG, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, in what they termed a calculated attempt to destabilize the existing political harmony in Ondo Central, particularly in Akure.


In a strongly worded statement, the women described Adegbonmire as a dependable leader whose performance, accessibility, and commitment to grassroots development have earned him the trust and admiration of the people, especially women and youth. 


They noted that his track record in empowerment, legislative impact, and constituency engagement stands in stark contrast to what they called “imposed political experimentation.”


The group further alleged that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s support for Fasoranti is not driven by public interest but by a narrow agenda to disrupt the political structure of Akure and undermine the organic growth of democratic representation in the district. 


According to them, such actions risk creating unnecessary tension and eroding the unity that has been carefully nurtured over time.


“We will not sit back and watch our future be toyed with.


“Senator Adegbonmire has proven himself beyond reasonable doubt. 


"Any attempt to sideline him for political convenience is unacceptable to us as mothers, voters, and stakeholders in Ondo’s progress.” they declared 


They called on political leaders to prioritize competence, continuity, and the will of the people over personal ambition and backdoor arrangements, emphasizing that Ondo Central deserves stability, not chaos.


Reaffirming their stance, the women vowed to mobilize across wards and communities to ensure that the mandate of the people is protected, urging all well-meaning citizens to resist what they described as a looming political miscalculation.
