Safeguarding Nigeria's Digital Future: Minister Olawande Partners with Meta for Youth Online Safety.




The Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Honourable Ayodele Olawande, announced a significant advancement for the Youth Data Protection and Training programme during his participation in the Nigeria Youth Online Safety Summit in Abuja, held in collaboration with Meta and other key stakeholders.


With young Nigerians increasingly relying on digital platforms for education, entrepreneurship, creativity, and opportunity, the Minister emphasized the critical need to equip them with the knowledge and tools necessary for online safety.


He detailed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s National Youth Data Protection and Awareness Training Programme, an initiative designed to empower young people with skills to protect personal data, secure digital identities, identify online threats, and use technology responsibly. The programme also aims to foster job creation within the expanding data protection sector.



Through strategic partnerships such as this, the Ministry is reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that Nigerian youth are not only digitally connected but also digitally aware, responsible, and protected.



The Honourable Minister expressed his anticipation for continued and deeper collaboration with Meta and other partners, working collectively to cultivate a safer digital environment where young people can learn, innovate, and thrive.
