Youth Minister Olawande Champions Postgraduate Revival; Leads Commonwealth PhD Programme Induction
In a significant stride for youth empowerment in Nigeria, the Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Honourable Ayodele Olawande, highlighted the revival of the Commonwealth Postgraduate Programme in Youth Development Work after many years.
He expressed pride in the induction of PhD students in Commonwealth Youth Development Work at Yakubu Gowon University (formerly the University of Abuja).
This cohort includes youth development officers from all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro.
During the induction programme, the Honourable Minister emphasized that building the future of Nigeria's young people requires more than passion; it demands trained professionals equipped with the right knowledge, skills, and tools to deliver lasting impact.
He reiterated that, under his leadership, the Ministry remains committed to establishing youth work as a recognized and respected profession.
This effort involves strengthening policies, advancing research, and integrating global best practices for the benefit of Nigerian youth.
