Youth Minister Olawande Unveils 5,000 Opportunities for Youth as Certified Meter Technicians to Close Nigeria's Metering Gap
Yesterday, the Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, opened yet another channel of opportunity for 5,000 Nigerian youth to be trained and certified as meter installers and technicians - a strategic intervention aimed at closing Nigeria's metering gap while building a skilled workforce to enhance efficiency in the energy sector.
Across sectors, the Honourable Minister noted that his Ministry is opening doors and creating opportunities for Nigerian youth.
Just yesterday, he expanded YouthCred, giving an additional one million young Nigerians access to affordable credit to pursue their education, build businesses and unlock their potential.
Prior to that, the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) under his leadership has continued to equip young people with in-demand digital and employability skills, while its StartUp component is providing funding and mentorship to promising young entrepreneurs, helping them turn innovative ideas into successful businesses.
Through the Youth in AgriBusiness Land Trust Fund, the Minister is also opening new opportunities in agriculture by giving young people access to land and the support they need to build profitable agribusinesses.
And today, he has created another pathway in the energy sector to prepare a new generation of skilled professionals for meaningful employment.
The Honourable Minister encourages all young Nigerians to take advantage of this programme and others initiated by the Ministry - to register, complete the training, earn certification and position themselves for the opportunities these programmes create.
