ABEGUNDE–TINUBU CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2026: OFFICIAL DRAW & UNVEILING



Akure, Ondo State — August 2026


The Abegunde–Tinubu Champions League 2026 has officially unveiled its fixtures, tournament trophy and jerseys, setting the stage for the commencement of grassroots football across six locations covering all 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.


With the theme, “One Vision. Eighteen Local Governments. One Champion,” the competition aims to promote youth development, talent discovery, discipline, sportsmanship and unity through football.


Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Segun Adeoye, representing the NDDC Executive Director, Corporate Services, Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde (ABENA), conveyed his goodwill to the 18 participating clubs and reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots football development.


Mr. Femi Adeleye, representing the Ondo State Football Association (OSFA), pledged the Association’s support, while referee representative Akinfemisoye Tolulope assured participating teams of fair and impartial officiating. Mr. Babatunde Ayodele, representing the Ondo State Sports Council, also assured the organisers of a conducive environment for the championship.


The Chairman of the Abegunde Football Volunteers Committee, said the tournament was established to discover young talents, promote grassroots football and provide players with opportunities to showcase their abilities and pursue greater opportunities in the sport.


The coaches and players of the participating teams have also demonstrated strong commitment, sacrifice and readiness in their preparations for the competition, with teams gearing up to give their best throughout the championship.


The competition kicks off on 27 August 2026, bringing competitive grassroots football closer to communities across Ondo State.
