The Asiwaju of Akure Kingdom and Executive Director, Corporate Services, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde (ABENA), has extended warm felicitations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, the Deji of Akure Kingdom, on the successful completion of the annual traditional leave, Ulefunta, and the commencement of the Ijádé Ulefunta celebration.

Hon. Abegunde described Ulefunta as a significant and revered cultural tradition that reflects the rich history, heritage and enduring identity of the Akure people. He noted that the annual observance continues to provide an important platform for the preservation of the customs and traditions handed down through generations.

According to him, the Ijádé Ulefunta is not only a celebration of the return of Kabiyesi from the traditional leave but also an opportunity for Akure sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to come together in unity, reaffirm their shared heritage and celebrate the institution of the Deji of Akure Kingdom.

Hon. Abegunde congratulated Kabiyesi on the successful completion of the traditional rites and prayed for continued wisdom, good health, peace and prosperity for the revered monarch as he continues to provide traditional leadership for the people of Akure.

He also called on all Akure sons and daughters to continue to uphold the values of unity, peace, respect for tradition and collective development, stressing that the strength of Akure lies in the shared commitment of its people to the progress and prosperity of the kingdom.

The Asiwaju of Akure Kingdom further extended his best wishes to the entire Akure community and prayed that the Ulefunta 2026 celebration would usher in renewed peace, unity, progress and prosperity for Akure Kingdom.
