Abitogun Mourns As Elder Statesman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti Passes On At 100

A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Stephen Abitogun has expressed deep sorrow over the reported passing of elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, at the age of 100.


Pa Fasoranti, a prominent Yoruba leader and committed Awoist, served as Ondo State Commissioner for Finance between 1979 and 1983. He was widely respected for his immense contributions to progressive politics, community development, and public service.


Reacting to the news of his passing, Hon. Abitogun described the late elder statesman as a towering figure in progressive politics and community leadership whose contributions to the development of Ondo State and the Akure community will never be forgotten.


In a statement issued by his media team, the lawmaker said Pa Fasoranti played a significant role in the creation of our dear state and remained committed to his personal convictions throughout his lifetime.


"He was a courageous yet calm man who spoke truth to power. He was a forthright and blunt man whose position on issues was always evident," the statement quoted Abitogun as saying.


The lawmaker further noted that Pa Fasonranti’s passion for the progress of Ondo State and his fearless engagement with those in positions of authority earned him respect across political and social divides.


As a leader of Afenifere and a respected elder statesman, Pa Fasoranti played a prominent role in Yoruba socio-political affairs and remained an influential voice in discussions on governance, politics, development, and the welfare of the people.


Hon. Abitogun extended his condolences to the Akure community, the management and staff of Omolere Nursery, Primary & secondary School, Akure, the family of the deceased, and the entire people of Ondo State.


He prayed to God Almighty to grant the bereaved family and all those mourning the elder statesman the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
