I had the honour of joining other government officials, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator (Dr.) George Akume to welcome home our gallant heroines—the Super Falcons—following their thrilling and hard-fought victory over Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. From the moment they stepped off the aircraft, I could feel the energy radiating from each of them: the quiet strength, the sacrifices behind the scenes, and the sheer resilience that carried them to glory.









Standing among these remarkable young women, I was reminded of what it means to represent a nation: to bear the hopes of millions on your shoulders and to deliver not just goals on the pitch, but a statement of excellence, unity, and possibilities.


I congratulated them, not just as athletes, but as symbols of what Nigerian youth can achieve when given the platform and the support they deserve.




Shortly after leaving the airport, I joined the Presidential reception in their honour. It was a proud gathering—not just of officials and dignitaries—but of a grateful nation paying tribute to its daughters who had flown the flag with dignity and might. As the President spoke, commending their performance and assuring continued government support, I reflected deeply on how this victory fits into our broader vision for youth empowerment, gender inclusion, and sports development.



This has been, for me, more than just a celebration. It was a wake-up call to continue building systems that enable our young people to dream and thrive. These women are not just champions on the field; they are role models in our communities, living proof of what courage, discipline, and ambition can yield.


To the Super Falcons, you have inspired a nation. You have uplifted the hearts of millions. And on behalf of the youth of Nigeria, I say: thank you. This is your moment—and we are so proud to share it with you. Congratulations, Queens!
