WET GRASS STATEMENT:

AKURE WEST LCDA HELMSMAN, ADEJUYIGBE, HAILS GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA'S GIANT STRIDES

...says people’s welfare, grassroots development top Governor’s agenda

Following a statement made by President Tinubu during the APC National Executive Committee meeting held at the State House, where he emphasised the need for governors to "wet the grass small" and lead the way in bringing about positive change and prioritising grassroots development.

The Chairman of Akure West Local Council Development Authority (LCDA), Hon. Sunday Adejuyigbe, has said that the President's remark comes as part of his efforts to strengthen the APC at all levels and improve governance at the grassroots amid urgent needs to stem the complaints of the people, adding that the ultimate purpose of a government is the happiness of its people.

The Chairman added that President Tinubu's statement was meant to spur the governors to do more for the people, and without being economical with the truth, Governor Aiyedatiwa should be commended in this regard. He said his achievements across various sectors, including social welfare, education, youth empowerment, agriculture, food security, and many more, speak volumes. The last one and a half years in the saddle of governance have been challenging but all-inclusive, rewarding, and impactful.

According to President Tinubu, he urged the governors to prioritize human capital development, which is politically termed as ‘Stomach Infrastructure’. In this context, Governor Aiyedatiwa has already led the way through the appointment of over 300 Special Assistants, ejecting more than 231 appointees into LCDAs administration, encouraging party's structural growth, stability and progress through the payments of monthly stipends to 5500 ward executives across the state, 486 local govts. and state executives members, respectively. This is a rare and unprecedented stride in the annals of governance in Ondo State.

Adejuyigbe maintained that Aiyedatiwa's transparency and inclusive governance have fostered innovation, stability, and sustainable development at the grassroots, positioning Ondo State as one of the leading destinations for investment with a growing internally generated revenue (IGR). His leadership has transformed the entirety of Ondo State into a model of progress and prosperity.

Aiyedatiwa's transformational leadership has earned him widespread praise, respect, and accolades as a true leader. His commitment to transparency and accountability has also been widely applauded. The sustainability and gradual empowerment of the LCDAs with the provision of utility vehicles to function optimally is a testament to the fact that the grassroots are not abandoned in the scheme of things.

He praised the governor for completing inherited projects and ensuring that  initiated ones across the length and breadth of the state were not abandoned. He added that the recruitment of more than 3,000 persons into the civil service workforce and other critical sectors, including prompt payments of salary of all categories of workers coupled with human capital development initiatives, shows that the governor is already 'wetting the grass'.

Adejuyigbe encouraged the people of Ondo State to appreciate all that Governor Aiyedatiwa has done for the people so far and to support him as he continues to 'wet the grass', stressing that as an LCDA chairman, he aligns with politics that fosters progress, growth, and prosperity for the people. He stated further that already over 30 individuals are receiving stipends monthly from him and enjoined others to follow suit in order to ease the Governor Aiyedatiwa’s burden of governance at the grassroots level.
