Report on Stakeholders Meeting: Slums Management in Akure, Ondo State
By Hon. Ogunoye Ayodeji Emmanuel (Dynasty)
I attended a stakeholders meeting organized by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to present the draft report on slum management in selected locations across the country, with Akure, Ondo State, serving as a case study. The areas covered in Akure included Isolo, Aiyedun, Araromi, Tipper Garage, and Oke-Ijebu.
The meeting provided a platform for insightful discussions on the importance of government intervention at the grassroots level. I utilized the opportunity to advocate for the people, emphasizing the need for the federal government to implement meaningful and impactful programs that deliver the dividends of democracy to the citizens.
Furthermore, I drew attention to some crucial areas in Akure that were not included in the study, such as Sabo, Odojoka, Sabo High School, and Odopetu/Ijemikin. The representative of the Honorable Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Mrs. Adesanya, appreciated my contributions and invited me to join the Advisory Committee for this impactful program.
Key Takeaways:
