FAMOLA ADVOCATES AI-DRIVEN GOVERNANCE AT ONDO STATE AI ADOPTION SUMMIT

Fambegbe Olakunle Famola, Co-founder of Famtech Solutions, has underscored the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern governance during his presentation at the Ondo State Artificial Intelligence (AI) Adoption Summit, organized by the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) in Akure.

Speaking on the topic “Adopting AI in Governance,” Famola emphasized that effective governance in the digital era requires a strategic shift from traditional administrative systems to intelligent, data-driven public service delivery.

He noted that deploying AI tools such as predictive analytics, integrated data dashboards, and AI-powered citizen engagement platforms can significantly enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in government operations.

He further highlighted practical opportunities for AI adoption across key ministries, including Finance, Environment, and Infrastructure, where AI technologies can support smarter budgeting, real-time environmental monitoring, and predictive maintenance of public infrastructure.

Famola also proposed the establishment of an Ondo Smart Governance Platform, a centralized system for monitoring project execution and collecting citizen feedback in real time to support evidence-based decision-making.

In his recommendations, Famola called for the development of a State Artificial Intelligence Policy Framework, the introduction of capacity-building programs for civil servants, and collaboration with national institutions such as NITDA, NCC, and NDDC to ensure effective implementation and alignment with national digital transformation objectives.

The summit was graced by top government functionaries and dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Education, who ably represented the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Other commissioners in attendance were Hon. Dr. Tobi Loko, Commissioner for Environment; Hon. Bosede Osamaye, Commissioner for Women Affairs; and the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism. Also present were Permanent Secretaries from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as several Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants to the Governor.

At the close of the event, the Chairman of SITA, Hon. Tomide Akinribido, announced that an Ondo State Artificial Intelligence Adoption Council would soon be constituted, following the Governor’s approval. According to him, key participants and contributors at the summit will be drafted as members of this council, which will guide AI policy, innovation, and strategic digital development across all sectors of the state.

Famola commended this initiative as a visionary step by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa toward institutionalizing innovation and positioning Ondo State as a national model for smart governance driven by technology and data intelligence.
