DEMOCRACY FOR SALE IN NIGERIA ? BY Mike Olatunji 🇳🇬 Lagos, Nigeria

Exorbitant Nomination Fees Shut Out the Poor

–When will politics become a service, not a business?

DEMOCRACY FOR SALE IN NIGERIA ?

The exorbitant nomination form fees are suffocating Nigeria's youth. ₦200m for president, ₦100m for senator, ₦70m for house of rep, ₦20m for House of Assembly – who's winning? Not the people, not the nation, just the highest bidder. Politicians, listen: serving humanity is paramount. Your greed is killing democracy. These fees exclude talented, passionate Nigerians with new ideas. You're allowing bad leaders to loot with impunity, while the poor are priced out of politics.

Politics isn't a business, it's a service Scrap these fees, open the space. Let young Nigerians participate. Good governance shouldn't come with a high cost. Break the cycle. The nation's future depends on it.

Children of the rich, who don't know the value of money – talk less of how one works for it – can afford such millions due to their fathers' stupendous stealing from the national treasury.

Where will children of the poor get millions to buy forms? Will they sell their future? What about merit, passion, and service?

The system favors those who've looted the treasury, not those who've studied hard. Children of the rich don't "work" for money; their fathers' stolen wealth does. Is this democracy?

Democracy should mean governance of the people, by the people, for the people – not a game of money and influence. Let's Practice democracy accordingly, without excuses.

Politics should serve people, not pockets!
