FAIR REPRESENTATION FOR ALL: Akoko’s Political Imbalance, The Case for Zoning the House of Reps to Isowopo

FAIR REPRESENTATION FOR ALL:

Akoko’s Political Imbalance, The Case for Zoning the House of Reps to Isowopo

The current political arrangement in Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West calls for balance, fairness, and inclusiveness.

Ikare in Akoko North-East already occupies the Senate seat, while Akoko North-West holds two strategic ministerial positions—Minister for Interior and Minister for Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. This clearly shows that some parts of the constituency are already well represented at the highest levels of governance.

However, Isowopo 1 and 2 remain largely excluded from key political structures and leadership opportunities. This imbalance weakens unity and limits the spread of grassroots development across the constituency.

For equity, justice, and sustainable progress, the House of Representatives seat should be zoned to Isowopo. Every community deserves a voice, and no single bloc should dominate both the Senate and the House of Representatives while others are left without meaningful representation.

True leadership is not about concentration of power, but about inclusion and fairness. When representation is evenly distributed, development becomes more impactful, and governance becomes more accountable to all.

It is time to give Isowopo a chance.

Ikare has done well, but now is the time to allow Isowopo to breathe and contribute its full potential to the progress of our constituency.
